Towards Immortality: The Importance of Self-confidence and Self-control.

An inspiring illustration depicting a person ascending toward a glowing light, symbolizing the journey to immortality through self-confidence, self-control, and inner strength.

I am seeing the condition of the world,
There is chaos all around,
I don't know who is good and who is bad,
Everyone here is arrogant.

I am seeing the condition of the world,
People keep creating chaos,
When you know the truth,
You will be left regretting.

You will not have any support in this world,
Whom will you ask for help?
They, too, are losers like you.
Everyone is losing here,

Who will do justice to you, poor thing?

The world is on fire now,
There is a rush all around,
Has anyone ever asked themself?
Who is fighting with whom in this fight?

The world is engulfed in darkness,
People here are poor even after studying.
They could not understand the things in the book,
Everyone here has become a cognoscenti.

Everyone here knows everything,
No one listens to anyone,
Everyone here has become a wise man,
Everyone is filled with false knowledge.

Everyone here is filled with foolishness,
No one goes towards knowledge,
There are many foolish people,
Ignorance has made its home in everyone's mind.

The story of ignorance is every moment,
In life, we get cheated every moment,
This is the story with everyone,
No one listens to anyone.

Everyone praises themself,
How many have believed that all this is empty knowledge?
Know that the door of truth is very close,
Who speaks the truth is very difficult.

Humans do not think,
Who is the human who thinks well?
Know that the good people are doing,
Know that they are moving towards immortality.

Know that immortality is a penance,
Know that immortality is patience and restraint,
Know that immortality is not an easy thing,
Know that getting immortality is also not a difficult thing.

Immortality is a stream of nectar,
Which keeps flowing forever,
Perhaps even the rarest of the rare have been able to know this stream,
And an infrequent person has attained that immortality.

In the world of dreams, if someone talks about self-restraint,
The quality of a great human is in them, whatever the circumstances.
The person who practices self-restraint,
Know it, moves towards immortality.

Whoever practices self-restraint in speech and words,
That person gradually moves towards greatness,
Know it, greatness is easy,
Know it, and keep practising thoughts, words and actions in life.

Self-purification, purification of actions, has great importance in life.
Self-purification, purification of actions, pushes towards greatness,
Self-purification, the purification of actions, is a stream of life,
Only an exceptionally great soul can catch hold of this stream.

Self-purification increases self-confidence,
Self-confidence inspires one to do great deeds in life,
Self-confidence is the foundation of life,
Self-confidence is the backbone of life.

People do great things by being full of self-confidence,
One gets a big name by using self-confidence properly,
Self-confidence is the key to success,
Self-confidence is the biggest asset in life.

If you want to do something big in life, you have to increase your self-confidence.
You have to climb the ladder of achievement in life,
You have to keep increasing the supply of self-confidence,
You have to keep moving towards success.

Do you want to write the script for success in life?
You should understand the power of self-confidence,
The person who is full of self-confidence,
That person becomes famous in the world.

You should keep striving for greatness in life,
And along with self-control,
It would help if you rose above your mind, intellect and actions,
And the goal of life should be to achieve greatness.

1. The Chaotic and Egotistical State of the World:-
The poet expresses concern over the current state of the world, noting that an atmosphere of dispute and unrest prevails everywhere. Amidst this clamour, it has become impossible to distinguish between right and wrong, as every individual is consumed by ego. People are thoughtlessly escalating conflict.
According to the poet, this is a situation where no one is a support to another because everyone feels defeated in their own internal struggle. In a society filled with such self-interest and arrogance, expecting justice or cooperation is futile. This depiction is a poignant commentary on today's social reality.

2. The Spread of Ignorance and Hollow Knowledge:-
A central theme of the poem is the pervasive ignorance in society. The poet states that people are helpless despite being educated because they have failed to grasp the true essence of the knowledge contained in books. Every person considers themselves the greatest authority and is unwilling to listen to anyone else. This knowledge is not real; it is "hollow knowledge" (thootha gyan), which only fuels arrogance. The darkness of this very ignorance has taken root in people's minds, causing them to stray from life's correct path and face deception at every turn.

3. The Path to Immortality through Self-Restraint and Virtue:-
The poet presents the concept of 'Immortality' as a way to rise above worldly problems. Here, immortality does not refer to the physical body but to being eternally remembered through one's noble deeds and qualities. Achieving this state is a difficult ascetic practice, requiring patience and self-control (sanyam).
The person who controls their speech, mind, and actions, and adheres to virtue even in difficult circumstances, is the one who gradually moves toward greatness. This path is rare but accessible to those who continually practice self-discipline.

4. The Importance of Inner Strength (Aatmabal) and Self-Purification:-
The central message of the poem rests on the glory of Inner Strength (Aatmabal) and Self-Purification (Aatmashuddhi). According to the poet, the door to greatness opens only through the purification of the self (purity of mind) and the purification of action (noble deeds). These two practices increase inner strength, which is considered the fundamental basis and backbone of life.
Inner strength is what inspires an individual to undertake great and noble work, and it is the key to success. The poet regards it as life's greatest asset, without which any major achievement is impossible. Only a person endowed with strong inner strength achieves fame and respect in the world.

5. Life's Ultimate Goal: Achieving Excellence:-
In the end, the poet defines the true aim of life. According to them, the purpose of life is not merely to achieve material success but to attain 'Excellence' (Shreshthata). For this, an individual must strive continually in the direction of greatness. This is possible only when one practices self-restraint and rises above the ordinary level of their mind, intellect, and actions. Establishing excellence and high standards in every aspect of life should be humanity's supreme goal. This is a journey that leads an individual toward spiritual satisfaction and a meaningful life.

Conclusion:-
This poem presents a vivid portrait of the moral and spiritual decline of contemporary society, where ego, ignorance, and conflict reign supreme. However, the poet does not stop at stating the problem; they also offer a clear solution. Their message is that before changing the external world, one must change oneself. By developing self-purification, self-restraint, and inner strength, an individual can not only overcome their personal problems but also become a source of positive change in society. Ultimately, this poem is a powerful call to achieve greatness through self-improvement.
